Powers of ten
Numbers written with the base of 10 are called 'powers of ten'.

Example:
Scientific notation (standard form):
When a number is written as a multiple of a
number between 1 and 9 and a power of 10 it is said to be written in
Standard form ( or Scientific notation ).
(the base number can be 1 but not 10
, in other words, numbers from 1.0
to
9.999.......)


Examples:

| In scientific notation the number (4.4) is between 1 and 10. | |

| This is not scientific notation because the number (44) is not between 1 and 10. |
