Here is a method you can use to make two fractions equal:

You can multiply the numerator and denominator of
by 3  to find another fraction that is the same.

Here is a method to reduce og simplify fractions:

           Simplify   ³/₉  by dividing the numerator and denominator by 3.

Multiplication:

              +    +    = ¾ 

In multiplication with whole number and fractions we multiply the whole number with the numerator of the fraction.

Another example 

Subtraction:

                -    = 

                        ⁵/₄             -     ³/₄       =     ²/₄

Another example 

Since 1 = ⁵/₅ we can borrow 1 from 6 and add it to the fraction ²/₅

Writing fractions as decimals:

Enter 1 on a calculator and divide by 4.
