Lesson 1

           100%  of the box is shaded.

                75%   or 3/4 of the box is shaded.

                    50%   or half  the box is shaded.

                    1%   or 1/100 of the box is shaded.

Example:

To find 9% of 800 begin by finding 1% of 800. Divide 800 by 100.

 800/100 = 8 which is 1% of 800.

If 1% is 8, then 9% is 9 times more: 8 x 9 = 72.
